I want to
share a crime story with you now. No, not what you think. Definitely not a
murder. It is a robbery of a Purse with 25 rupees it. This incident is a big
one which I would never forget. It all begins in Sayalkudi. I was living in
Sayalkudi for three years as my Dad's job was in a bank named, let's say
'blah-blah'.
This
incident happened there. I was studying in 2nd or 3rd grade. The school in
which I studied was called Roja Matriculation School. An average school but a
famous one in that town. The reason for its fame is that, it is a small town
and also the schooling was not that much popular there. A little bit larger
than a village. People had no other choice but to admit their kids in that
school. Okay, this was a type of school in which parents usually came to the
schools to see their children to feed them in the Lunch break. So as a parent,
my Mom also is included.
The
incident happened one day where I went to the school without doing the homework
and the teacher was extremely mad at me. Like everyone knows, kids are scared
of their teachers. So was I.
In
that school the parents leave the lunch bags for their children in a shelf near
the entrance. And when the Lunch break comes they take the Lunch boxes and feed
it to their children. So, one fine day, in a recess period, I went to take my
Water can and to have a sip of the natural fluid. As I went there, I saw my
mom's purse clinging in the Bag. I was attracted to it as I have never opened
it before. I took a look around me. Knowing the loneliness, I took the purse
out and picked a two rupee coin (See, big cash. That's not even cash.
Anyways...) and slipped it into my pocket. So this scene ends here. This might
have happened by 11.00 in the morning. By 12.30, all the parents had come to
give food to their children. The school was very small and so we had an open
toilet which I find now to be so stupid. My curses apart. So, I went to attend
the nature's call and I saw my Mom surrounded by the teachers at a distance
from where I was taking the leak. They were talking about something and I was
watching them from the leak-taking spot. I thought that my teacher was
complaining about my incomplete homework.
I
was scared. So I pretended to attend the nature's call for a long time. I
actually didn't know what was happening there. Then finally the teachers got
cleared and I sat with my Mom and had the wonderful dish ever. Wait! The story
is yet to begin. I didn’t knowing the future that time. A strange thing
happened.
My
Mom's purse was missing! What a surprise! I saw the purse in the interval but
now it isn't there? I didn't know about this theft until my Head-mistress
summoned me.
She
summoned me and I obeyed. As soon as I entered the room, she looked angry and I
was puzzled. She began a boring conversation and her speech wasn't that polite
and not even normal. I was thinking 'Why the heck she summons me and speaks
rudely?'. I had no idea what the conversation was about. I was completely at
sea. She finally asked me: "What did you do with the purse?"
I
didn't know what to respond. What purse? And why me? I said, "I know
nothing". Then only I got to know that her purse was missing. All I kept
on saying was, "I didn't take the purse."
The
conversation went for nearly 20 minutes. Just imagine yourself there. You
haven't done anything but you are being suspected for it and the big thing is
you are too small to speak back. All I knew was that I was in a bad situation
and then I am screwed. I had this stupid cry-for-anything habit. I do this when
I am scolded for something that I didn't do. I do this when I am helpless when
I can't prove my point to someone. And she kept on talking and finally she
said, "I'll give you five minutes." and she took off leaving me alone
in a room. She came back asked, " So, what do you say?". Alone in a
room locked up like a kidnapped kid and they blame me for some stupid act. I
talked to myself and what do you think a child's self-talk would suggest him? I
accepted the blame and told her that I took the purse.
She
replied, "So, it took you this long to tell the truth" (But it wasn't
the truth. Screw her!). All she did was frightened me and made me say that. I
am still mad at her and I don't seem to remember her face good. But if I see
her again, she'd be dead.
But
where exactly did the purse go? My take was just a 2 rupee coin and I swear I
didn't go any further.
I
suspect the thief to be the school maid. She usually stands by the school gate
and the Lunch bags were kept near the gate in a small corner. When I mentioned
you that there was a none, it hadn't. She had been there watching me access the
purse. She made plans. She took the purse and she clipped me in the case. That
bitch was crafty. Bad that there were no CCTV supervision then.
Remember
when I said I was pretending to attend the nature's call longer? At that time,
the teachers had been talking to my Mom about the Spoken English class which I
Mom was doing a special class like one. And some higher class students had
complained to the Head-mistress which is still the most stupidest thing. They
had told her that I took the purse; I stole the money and I threw the purse
away. Bunch of idiots, why would I throw the purse away. What were they
thinking - that I was a freaking Godzilla to just throw things I have in hands.
Then I had been trying to find the purse which coincides with the time when I
was pretending to attend longer fearing that the teachers had been complaining
about me. But guys, From this I understood one thing. If you are helpless in a
situation, those who know you're helpless would climb on you and bang you to
the ground.
Be
courageous!
I
point a gun at that head-mistress' head and ask her to read a note. She reads
it. Hear.
"Guhan,
has done nothing wrong and he is innocent. P.S. Guhan will be back"
